This post is part of the larger Five Minute Friday community found on Kate Motaung’s blog. We write, for five minutes, together. No major edits. No second guesses, just writing to connect, to grow, to be. We would love to see you there.
This week’s writing prompt: Yes.
The past 3 months have been an emptying. When we moved away from Colorado, our cup emptied of all of life that we knew. Our friends, our home, our schools, our church, even our unique family culture was poured out as we moved “home” to create a new life.
We have felt empty, seeking a new house and facing hurdles financially and emotionally.
For awhile I felt as though each place we looked was a big fat NO.
And then there was a Yes.
Yes to financing.
Yes to a cute house in our favorite part of town.
Yes to a brand new school in one of the best districts in the state.
And even though we are not immersed in it yet, I know there will be a Yes to community. Because God is at work in all of these things.
I was inspired by a friend to bring out my Greek Bible yesterday and studied Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
The word in Greek for “works” sounds exactly like “synergy.” God is at work with all of the elements of our move, our relationships, our needs so that they synergistically burst forth to create new life. A full cup. A Yes life.
We continue facing the change, courageous in the struggle, because we know that God is working with all of the things. We continue to say Yes to new life.
Leah, that house is super cute! So excited for you all. Prayers that you’ll be blessed by new community too. I’m parked over in the #15 spot this week.
Thanks, Tara! Thanks for stopping by!
I am so excited for you as things start to fall together 🙂 I am really, really hoping we can see you in a few weekends!
Thanks, Kat!! I would love to see you at the wedding.
Leah, I’m right there with you! We just moved as well and I know what you mean. I love your new blog look! Very nice. Hope you had a lovely weekend.
Elizabeth, I had no idea the conflicting emotions I would have. I hope things are going well for you. Thanks for the compliment and for reading!
