Hello everyone! I apologize for my prolonged absence. I hope you all received copies of our birth announcement – if not, let me know and I’ll get one to you – but I’m still excited to introduce to you Benjamin Timothy. Or baby Ben as we like to call him. I am currently typing this with one hand as he sleeps in the crook of my arm. If you were to meet him, he would probably stare at you for a few moments, trying to figure you out before giving his adorable toothless grin with dimples. He would tell you about his day in the fluent coos and baby garble that captivate me. And if you pick him up, you may want to grab a burp cloth since you’re at risk for a shower of spit.
If Jack were around, he would pat Ben’s head and coo “he’s so cute!” before asking you to play trains with him. Or, if you’re lucky, you can fight off the pirates that lurk in our basement bedroom around the “boat” (mattress). Careful you don’t get your feet wet or become confused for a pirate yourself or you may find yourself the target of a bomb. “Here’s a big one! P-kshhhh!” (I’m a pirate when I’m disciplining him, it’s tough not to laugh)
We are finding our way as a family of four and if you catch me after a good night’s sleep, I would tell you I’m loving it! (Other days you’ll hear how much I miss sleep) Since poor baby Jack had colic, I was really nervous to have another infant around, but Ben has thankfully been able to sleep well and only cries when he needs something. He’s so sweet. I’m excited to see his personality blossom and to see my boys learn to play together, since they already adore one another.
Tim is, as always, a wonderful father and husband. Now he can add business owner to that list! He began Tim’s Automotive, LLC in January and is able to work from home Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday. The rest of the work week is spent at Strictly Automotive where he works part time. I am so proud of him. He honors God through caring for customers and their cars. It’s really fun to see him work.
Since I last wrote you, we celebrated Jack’s 3rd birthday in December and in February, I celebrated my 30th birthday in Wisconsin with Tim’s family (he’s next! March 17th). During our trip, we also spent time in Minnesota. It was great to take a trip back to the Midwest to introduce Ben to the family. It was fun to surprise many of you at Cross of Glory. I wish I could spend more time one on one with all of you, but time was so limited. When we return, I will be in touch!
My maternity leave is over now and I’m excited to get back to work.I’m currently reading Andy Stanley’s book When Work and Family Collide: Keeping Your Job from Cheating Your Family (Previously published as Choosing to Cheat) and am hoping it provides some insights into the work and family balance that is so difficult for many of us. I find it especially challenging since I often work from home. I’ll let you know soon how I like the book (and so far I do!).
I’m excited to see you again here on this blog. I’ve missed you.
